UPDATE – Brittany Dangerfield
Brittany is still in the hospital. I did not fully understand all that was happening behind the scenes when I shared that she would be released yesterday.
The doctor aggressively started trying to force-release Brittany (prematurely) based solely on her improved vitals. He did not take into account that the original purpose that landed her in the hospital (severe abdominal pain and sepsis) were still significantly unresolved. On top of the undiagnosed abdominal pain, Brittany still cannot walk unassisted. She still suffers a lot of nausea and vomiting and struggles to keep solids and even liquids down. And she has unexplained and unresolved, debilitating migraines. None of these are good symptoms to lingering around.
Scott and Brittany felt strongly that it was not safe to release Brittany from the hospital. And Brittany kept saying that something was still very wrong inside her body, she could feel it. Brittany and Scott’s previous encounters with sepsis in the family had them convinced that an early release was just not safe. They have had two different family members (one on each side of the family) that passed away from sepsis. Both had been in the hospital and released (prematurely) because their vitals had come back to normal range.
After countless hours of discussing the seriousness of the situation with hospital staff, Brittany was able stay in the hospital. They are now seeking a second opinion and working to meet with specialists.
** (Since drafting this update I received an update from Scott. He says that Brittany is now able to keep fluids down, and eat a little. Her migraine has subsided into a headache. Her abdominal pain has started to lessen as well. Brittany and Scott are pushing to rerun a few tests to confirm the infection that caused the sepsis is actually indeed going away and staying away: another pelvic exam and urine analysis. They’re also working to get an after-care plan put together {lining up appointments with specialists, etc.} as they work toward a safe release.)
In their recent Instagram stories, Brittany and Scott give their tear-filled expressions of gratitude for all that you have done and continue to do for them. In the Gofundme account alone you have helped with $13,305! And in Venmo you’ve donated $2,000!
It amazes me… in 4 days you have rallied around Brittany and Scott to help alleviate $15,305 of their hospital debt! This is very incredible! I don’t know anyone personally who can make that much money in 1 month let alone 4 days! Brittany and Scott wept on their Instagram stories as they expressed their love and gratitude for all that each of you have done for them: the donations, the shares, the words of love, support, and encouragement, and your prayers and faith.
While raising $13,305 in 3 days is incredible and breathtaking, the reality is that $13,305 only covers one of the days Brittany spent in the ICU. Please show this amazing woman and mother some more love and support by donating! (Let’s see how much more we can make her cry those good wonderful tears!) There are 3 ways to donate: Brittany’s Gofundme, Venmo account @scott-dangerfield, and directly depositing into their Chase bank account (last four digits 0909).
If donating isn’t feasible, please share – at least share! Just under 1,000 shares have helped pass the word along to many able and willing people who otherwise would not have seen Brittany’s story in this great hour of need!
Prayers, positive vibes and encouraging words of course are always welcome too!
